Building Libraries,
           Building Confidence

Across our training sites, SMYL has introduced free libraries to help students build reading confidence, literacy skills and a positive relationship with learning.

The books have been donated by trainers, students and staff, and include a wide range of levels, genres and topics to suit all interests and ACSF levels.

Students can borrow books freely and keep them as long as they need, with no strict time limits. Reading is supported through simple reading logs, where students track what they read and reflect on their progress.

These libraries create welcoming learning spaces, encourage independent reading, and help students build confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment.
